CORRECTION/CLARIFICATION

Our Nov. 4 piece titled “BP executive calls end ot Louisiana’s litigious climate” misquoted the company’s head of state and local affairs Joe Ellis when speaking before the South Central Industrial Association luncheon the previous week. Ellis’s quote regarding the attitude toward the state’s oil and gas industry should have read: “The oil and gas industry in Louisiana, and I respectfully submit broader business interests in Louisiana, are threatened not as much by an attitude that some have, certainly not everyone, that the industry deep pockets make for good lawsuits.”

The Times respectfully apologizes to our readers and Mr. Ellis for confusion caused by the misquote.
