Raceland man charged with second-degree rape

Parnell Chambers Jr., 33, of Raceland, was arrested by Lafourche Parish authorities Aug. 7, and charged with second-degree rape.

Authorities said Chambers knocked on a female acquaintance’s front door and asked to enter. When she refused, deputies allege, Chambers forced himself through the door and assaulted her.

The victim reported the crime later that morning. Chambers had two warrants for contempt of court and arrested him.

Chamber’s bond was set at $75,000 bond. He was charged with second-degree rape and $1,574 owed in fines and court fees. He is also being held for violating Louisiana Probation and Parole laws.

Driver nabbed $10K in drugs seized

Lafourche authorities arrested Adrian Tran, 20, and Terrierenee Billiot, 19, both of Larose, last Tuesday after Tran allegedly led deputies on a high-speed chase that ended with a five-car accident and the seizure of $10,000 in marijuana and cash.

Narcotics deputies obtained two warrants for Tran’s arrest. They found him at a car wash on Hamilton Street in Larose. Using their vehicles, deputies attempted to box Tran in the car wash stall. Authorities said Tran reversed his vehicle, crashing into a passing squad car.

Deputies said Tran sped down Hamilton Street toward La. Highway 308. Agents reported Tran tossing money out of the car as he ran through the intersection, causing a five-car wreck.

Several drivers sustained minor injuries, authorities said.

As Tran exited his vehicle, authorities said a bag of marijuana fell out.

Tran reportedly told narcotics agents he had more marijuana at his residence. At the home, agents found Tran’s girlfriend, Billiott, and two juveniles.

Additionally, more marijuana, drug paraphernalia and cash were recovered.

In all, agents seized 453.4 grams of marijuana, $1,658 in cash, the weapon and various drug paraphernalia.

Tran’s bond was set at $216,000. He was booked on the two warrants, as well as possession with intent to distribute marijuana, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a weapon in the presence of a CDS, use of a CDS in the presence of persons under 17, aggravated flight from an officer, aggravated criminal damage to property, vehicular negligent injuring, obstruction of justice and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Billiot was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and use of a CDS in the presence of persons under 17.
