1 caught, 1 at large in Raceland robbery

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested one and is looking for another in an attempted armed robbery that took place in Raceland last week.

At around 9:45 p.m. on June 2, detectives said they were called to the 600 block of Market Street in Raceland in response to an attempted armed robbery.

Upon arrival, deputies said they learned that a man had arrived at the residence when he was immediately confronted outside by two men who were allegedly wearing bandanas over their faces.

Authorities said the men held the victim at gunpoint and demanded he empty his pockets and give them whatever he had in his possession.

At that time, authorities said that a family member heard the commotion outside the residence, which prompted him to go outside. Once the suspects saw the other person, they fled the scene, firing multiple shots in their departure.

Through investigation, authorities identified Kyron Folse and Jassumen Price as suspects, obtaining arrest warrants for the two.

On Friday, after learning of warrants for his arrest, Folse, 18, of Raceland, turned himself in.

He was booked on warrants for attempted armed robbery and criminal trespassing, as well as on an outstanding warrant for contempt of court.

He is being held in lieu of a $61,000 bond.

Price, 21, of Raceland, is still at large. Authorities said he was released from jail on May 22 after he was arrested on contempt of court charges on May 16.

The suspect’s last known address is 445 Brocato Lane, Raceland, and anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call the Bayou Region Crime Stoppers at 1-800-743-7433.

A cash reward is eligible for anyone with information that may lead to an arrest. Tipsters don’t have to give their names to be eligible for the reward.

Attempted 2nd-degree murder arrested

A suspect sought by the Thibodaux Police Department on attempted murder charges is now in the Lafourche Parish Detention Center.

Thibodaux Police Chief Scott Silverii said this week that Brandon Harry, 32, of 110 Iris St., was taken into custody on May 30, after an officer saw the suspect driving a white Saturn in a parking lot off North Canal Boulevard.

A press release issued by TPD said that the officer knew that Brandon had active warrants, so he stopped the vehicle and apprehended the suspect.

During the stop, authorities said they could smell marijuana on the scene, so a TPD K9 unit was called, which led police to find marijuana inside the vehicle and also $9,000 in cash.

Authorities said that Brandon initially tried to lie to officers about his true identity. Authorities said the suspect pled guilty of possession of marijuana in April 2011, and was on probation.

He is now charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, second-degree attempted murder and an outstanding warrant for contempt of court.

He is being held in the Lafourche Parish jail in lieu of a $265,000 bond.

Suspect wanted for attempted murder

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 50-year-old man for attempted second-degree murder.
