Suspect charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a man multiple times

A 31-year-old Choctaw native is being charged with attempted murder in Lafourche Parish.

Sheriff Craig Webre said that just before 10 p.m. on August 6, deputies responded to a call which stated that a man’s throad had been slit by another man in an altercation.

Deputies and EMT’s responded to the scene and upon arrival, deputies learned that the victim in the incident had been stabbed in the throat, but had also been stabbed multiple times in the neck and upper torso.

The victim was taken to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center for treatment, but because of the severity of the injuries, he was later airlifted to University Hopsital in New Orleans.

Authorities said the victim was in critical, but stable condition, as of Monday afternoon at the newspaper’s press time.

Through investigation, authorities identified Alex Andras, 31, of Choctaw, as a suspect.

Deputies said they learned that Andras allegedly arrived at the victim’s home on the night of the incident and a verbal altercation took place over a woman.

The altercation then got violent, and deputies said Andras attacked the victim, stabbing him with a pocketknife.

Following the incident, authorities said Andras fled the scene to his Choctaw Road residence where he was detained for questioning.

He was later arrested and charged with second-degree attempted murder.

Andras is held at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in lieu of a $100,000 bond.

Agents find drugs and a firearm during arrest of Cut Off man wanted for meth distribution

A Cut Off teenager was already going to be in hot water for various drug charges.

But when authorities searched his residence after his arrest, things got much worse.

On August 2, Lafourche Parish Drug Task agents obtained a warrant for Devan Day, 19, of Cut Off, as well as a search warrant for Day’s residence.

At around 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 2, authorities made contact with the suspect at his home and immediately took him into custody.

During the search of Day’s residence, authorities said they located small amounts of suspected methamphetamine and marijuana, as well as seven Clonazepam pills, five Hydrocodone pills, assorted drug paraphernalia and a handgun.

During questioning, authorities said Day admitted that the items were his.

Day was taken to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked on the Lafourche Parish Drug Task Force warrant, which prompted the search.

He was also booked with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of Clonazepam, possession of Hydrocodone and possession of drug paraphernalia. For having the gun, Day is charged with illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.

He is held in the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in lieu of a $37,000 bond.
