Convicted felon found with drugs and a stolen firearm in Lafourche

A 21-year-old Raceland man is in custody of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office after allegedly being caught while in possession of a stolen firearm.

In the early morning hours of July 8, LPSO authorities said they were patrolling St. Phillip Street in Raceland when they observed a black male behaving suspiciously.

Officers then said they made contact with the man, identifying him as Daniondran Gabriel, 21, of Raceland.

Upon contact, authorities said they noticed Gabriel reaching inside his pockets, which prompted deputies to pat the suspect down for officer safety.

During that process, authorities said they found a loaded handgun with an extended magazine in Gabriel’s possession.

Authorities said he also had suspected marijuana on him at the time of the encounter, as well.

Authorities said they traced the handgun and it was reported as stolen. It was taken from a Lockport residence in 2014, according to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office.

During an identity check, officers also were able to track that Gabriel had prior felony convictions.

Gabriel was arrested and taken to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on charges of illegal carrying of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of marijuana (second offense).

He was released from the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on Friday morning after posting a $31,500 bond.

3 more arrested in connection to Kraemer residential burglary

There more suspects have been arrested by the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office for their alleged roles in a Kraemer house burglary that took place in late-May.

On May 28, authorities were called to a house in Kraemer after a report of a burglary.

Once on the scene-just before 12:30 p.m. on that day — authorities were told that the suspects had fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.

Investigators discovered that forced entry was made into the residence and two rifles, seven handguns, a BB gun and a suppressor had all been taken from the home.

The case was reported by a concerned neighbor, who noted suspicious activity at the house and alerted authorities.

Through investigation, LPSO said they developed Beau Rodrigue, 19, of Houma, as a suspect. They also learned that Rodrigue’s father, Elijah Rodrigue, 38, of Kraemer, allegedly helped him by driving him away from the scene.

After further investigation, authorities have also concluded that Nicole Short, 35, of Kraemer, was allegedly involved and was an accessory to the crime.

Elijah Rodrigue and Short were arrested on June 23. Elijah Rodrigue posted bond the next day, but Short remains in jail.

Through further investigation, authorities learned that two other individuals had an alleged hand in the burglary and there was a second vehicle at the scene during the crime.

Since the June 23 arrests, authorities developed Dorian Ledet, 20, and Jude LeBouef, 19, both of Houma, as the suspects in the second vehicle. Arrest warrants were issued for each for one count of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling.

On July 3, Beau Rodrigue was arrested by the Houma Police on charges of unauthorized entry and drug possession — as well as his warrants in Lafourche.

During questioning, LPSO said Rodrigue allegedly admitted his involvement in the burglary. He is still in the Terrebonne Parish Jail.

On July 6, Houma Police Officers assisted Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Officers and LPSO with a search warrant on the 1000 Block of High Street.

Once inside, authorities located Jude LeBouef and took him into custody without incident. LeBouef faces multiple charges in Terrebonne, as well as his warrants in Lafourche.

Ledet was also located in the residence and surrendered without incident.

He was turned over to LPSO and is held in the Lafourche Parish Jail on a $10,000 bond for his alleged role in the Lockport incident.
