3 charged with attempted murder

Houma Police are searching for a Houma trio suspected of chasing a man last Tuesday through the Mechanicville area and shooting at him, authorities said.

Houma Police Chief Dana Coleman said Desmond Verdin, 19, of Kirkglen Loop, Tyrone Mickey, 17, of Muskrat Court, and Lorenzo Barrow, 17, of Coral Drive, are being sought on warrants for attempted first-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Coleman said police recovered a .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol out of a Chevrolet pickup, which allegedly crashed before the suspects ran away.

The victim first encountered Verdin, Mickey and Barrow around 11 a.m. on Payne Street, Coleman said. The three men were reportedly threatening him with weapons, the police chief said. The victim, who is 20, drove away in a white Crown Victoria, but the others followed in the stolen truck, Coleman said.

The Crown Vic pulled off Payne and into Mechanicville; the truck continued to chase him down various streets, the chief said. The chase ended when the two vehicles collided near the intersection of Main and Authement streets.

Houma Police detectives learned the dark colored Chevrolet truck had been reported stolen through the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, Coleman said.

Authorities are asking with information as to the whereabouts of Verdin, Mickey or Barrow calls Bayou Region Crime Stoppers at 1-800-743-7433, to text “GIVEATIP” plus your message to 274637. Beat ‘er with a stick

Wilma Lindsey, 51, of Houma, was jailed last Wednesday afternoon for allegedly beating another woman with a stick… literally, according to Sgt. Brennan Matherne, spokesman for the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Lindsey and the other woman were arguing when the fight escalated, Matherne said. Lindsey reportedly grabbed a wooden stick and tried to hit the woman in the head. In response, the woman raised her arm over her head in defense and was hit in the arm and hand, the spokesman said.

Lindsey told deputies she’d hit the woman with the stick, Matherne said.

Lindsey, who was on parole at the time of the incident, was charged with aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon.
