Chief Damage Controlman John Parks, of Houma, signals a simulated helicopter crash on the flight deck of USS Porter (DDG 78) during a flight deck fire fighting drill Friday. Porter, an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missle destroyer, forward-deployed to Rota, Spain, is on a routine patrol conducting naval operations in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in support of U.S. national security interests in Europe.
