Dr. Matthew Sanderson Matherne, 34, a native of Bourg, La., and resident of Houma and New Orleans, La., died at 7:18 a.m. on Oct. 14, 2015.
Dr. Matherne graduated LSU in Baton Rouge, and he earned his doctorate of medicine degree in 2009 from LSU Health Science Center in New Orleans. He started his family medicine residency in East Jefferson Hospital in Metairie, La.
Dr. Matherne is survived by his wife, Amy Matherne; parents-in-law, Gaynell and Stephen Kennedy; brother-in-law, Jeffery Kennedy; father, Brian (Marianne) Matherne; sister, Kellie (Johnathon) Daniels; nieces, Isabella, Scarlett and Vivienne Daniels; and grandmother, Nancy Matherne.
Burial is at St. Ann’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Bourg, La.
