Dufrene Building Materials strongly supports local law enforcement.

And both this week and next, they’re taking the time to prove it.

The local business hosts an annual “Back the Blue” luncheon every fall – an event designed to show support to law enforcement around the state.

Dufrene holds a luncheon at all four of its locations – Cut Off, Slidell, Belle Chasse and Thibodaux.

The Cut Off luncheon was held today. Slidell’s was earlier this week. Belle Chasse and Thibodaux events will take place in the near future.

All local law enforcement are invited to the luncheon where a home-cooked Cajun lunch is prepared. The meal is freshly cooked and delivered with salad, fresh French bread and either bread pudding or bouille cake for dessert.

Officials with Dufrene Building Materials say that the luncheons have great turnout, but they also serve as an opportunity for the business to speak with the local authorities about current issues in the area, while also expressing appreciation to the officers for their commitment to community safety.

At this year’s luncheons, all officers were passing a good time, being given a full belly from the staff at Dufrene. The conversation was also plentiful and there were lots of laughs and entertainment for all.

Today at the Cut Off event, the Lockport Police Department and Golden Meadow Police Department were invited, as well as the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, State Police Troop C, Port Fourchon Harbor Police and Grand Isle Police.

At the Slidell event, city cops, State Police and St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Officers were invited.
