The ED. White softball team did not win the Division II State Championship.

But the Lady Cardinals sure got closer than many people expected-a Cinderella ride which captivated the team’s fans and sent the Cardinals’ community into a frenzy.

ED. White entered the playoffs as just the No 11 seed – a longshot to win a postseason game and advance to the State Tournament.

But E.D. White defied the odds, beating No 6 Haynes Academy 3-2 in the opening round and punching a ticket to the Quarterfinals.

While there, the Lady Cardinals didn’t have much lurk, felling U-l to St Charles Catholic, the eventual State Runner-Up.

But ED. White still had a strong season, peaking at the right time.

ED. White won five of their final six games to take momentum into next season.

The Lady Cardinals were youthful this season, and have several talented underclassmen returning next year.

The team lost several early-season games, which affected their overall win/loss record, but several of those defeats came by just a handful of runs.

In the late stages of the year, E.D. White started winning those contests.
