Early “Jack” Hicks Horton, Jr., 86, a native of Patmos, Arkansas, and resident of Galliano, La. died on Wednesday, May 13, 2015.

Mr. Horton retired from the oilfield in the early 60’s, owned and operated Jack’s Exxon in Galliano until 1976, and retired from the Lafourche Parish School Board in 2000 as a Bus Driver. He loved his family and friends. He enjoyed working on his farm especially with his cattle and riding his tractor. He was a hard worker, determined, strong-willed and a good honest man. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Jack is survived by his daughters, Susan Horton David and Jackie (Earl) Horton Ginter; 5 grandsons; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and 1 godchild.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Cheramie Horton; his parents, Early and Fannie Laha Horton Sr., and his brother Bobby Horton.

Burial is at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church Cemetary.
