Elphege “Jay” Joseph Bergeron, 89, a native and resident of Bayou Blue, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 6:45 p.m.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church of Bayou Blue from 8 a.m. until service time. Service will be at 11 a.m. with interment to follow in Daigle Cemetery.


Mr. Jay is survived by his daughters, Marilyn and husband Gerald Melancon, Donna Trahan, Kathy and husband Ronald Cortez and Susan and husband Timmy Dupre; brothers, Robert Sr. “Poochie,” Garry and Michael Bergeron; sister, Marion Cressione; grandchildren, Justin and David Cortez and Kimberly Trahan; and great-grandchildren, Ibanez Cortez, Karson Paddie and Kooper Saam.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy Landry Bergeron; daughter, Janet Bergeron; parents, Dovie and Mathilde Daigle Bergeron; brothers, Samson, Isaac and Ernest Bergeron; sisters, Alice Quick, Lillian “Sue” Breaux, Florence “Pony” Porche and Linda Plaisance.

Mr. Jay was a Tower Operator in the oilfield industry, retiring after 30-plus years and a faithful parishoner of First Presbyterian Church in Bayou Blue. He loved fishing, trawling, cooking, camping at his camp and being with family and friends.


The family wishes to extend a sincere thanks to to the staff of Haydel Memorial Hospice for their kind and compassionate service to their father.

He will be sadly missed by all who loved him.
