Jail inmate accused of rape dies after hanging

Elpidio “Pillo” Ortiz Ocampo, 61, a native of Mexico and a resident of Bayou Blue, La., died on Thursday, June 30, 2016.
Mr. Ocampo is survived by his wife, Maria Olivia Zamudio Sanchez; son, Ismael Zamudio; daughters, Yasmin Zamudio and Ericka Trosclair; grandchildren, Derek and Ian Ortiz; and eight siblings.
Burial will be at a later date.
