GISCLAIR: LSU football scrimmage will be a big day, but don’t grade team with red ink

Eugene Schouest, 88, passed away on April 11, 2018.

Gene lived his life fully. He loved his family, attending church, fishing, hunting and football. He enjoyed traveling the country with hearing impaired groups and never allowed any disability to hinder him. His days were filled with working and loving the love of his life, Josephine, who he is now celebrating with, being home.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 16, at Samart Funeral Home of Houma in Bayou Blue from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 16, at Samart Funeral Home of Houma in Bayou Blue at 2 p.m. Burial will take place in the Rogers Cemetery.


Pallbearers are Terry Schouest, Meridy (Lane) Bergeron, Meridy (Bubba) Bergeron II, Douglas Mills, Melvin Trosclair Jr. and Michael Trosclair

He is survived by his children, Terry Paul Schouest (Carmen), Chantel Schouest Bergeron (Meridy “Lane”), Russell “Rusty” Mills (Maria), Eric Mills (Guillermo), Douglas Mills, Linda Mills Cole (Clay); brother, Ellis Schouest (Flavia); sisters, Leona Schouest Rebert and Theresa Schouest Trosclair; his grandchildren, Katrina, Christina, Cheyenne, Victoria, Meridy (Bubba), Joshua, Heather, Patrick, Nicole, and Amanda; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, nephews, family, friends and hearing-impaired community throughout the country; all who loved seeing that joyous smile when Eugene laid his eyes upon them.

In Lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the family.
