One of the most well-known fishing rodeos in the Houma-Thibodaux area has a sleek new logo and a brand-new website in an effort to rebrand itself to fishermen around the world.

The Golden-Meadow-Fourchon Tarpon Rodeo has officially launched its efforts to revitalize itself in an effort to “maintain the unique family-oriented sportsmen culture and heritage of Lafourche and Grand Isle through a community fishing rodeo with proceeds dedicated to scholarships and educational opportunities for future generations.”

The 2015 rodeo will be July 2-4, and it will be held at Moran’s Marina, which is located at 288 Flotation Canal in Port Fourchon.

As-always, proceeds from the rodeo will benefit local high school students.

This year will be the first rodeo under new direction and leadership. The 2015 event will be operated in partnership with the Lafourche Parish Chamber of Commerce.

The rodeo has been rolling since 1948, and those within the new leadership tout that they are ready to try and grow the local event.

Troy Dufrene is the new president of the rodeo board. His cabinet includes Curtis Orgeron (vice-president), Brennan Matherne (secretary), John Lombardo (treasurer), Eddie Callais (admiral) and also board members Davie Breaux and Chris Moran.
