Fletcher Technical Community College’s library announced Sept. 28 that its grant, Enhancement of Library Services with New and Emerging Technologies, is funded through the fiscal year 2014 – 2015 Louisiana Board of Regents’ Enhancement Subprogram for Two-Year Institutions.

The Coastal Commerce Bank Library has used the funds to create portable media centers with laptops, micro-projectors, iPads and portable projection screens. The library also added charging stations and power tables at the college’s Schriever and St. Charles campuses. Enhanced campus-wide outreach featuring library resources has also been implemented, including display cabinets at the BP Integrated Petroleum Technologies Building on the Schriever campus and the Marine and Petroleum Safety Training Center on Dickson Road in Houma.

The enhancement program provides funding to increase research and educational infrastructure at community and technical community colleges. This grant funding provides greater visibility of academic and technological resources, bolsters student retention efforts and helps students prepare to enter the workforce.
