Floyd Joseph Collins Sr., 90, a native and resident of Golden Meadow, La., died on Tuesday, November 22, 2016.


Mr. Collins served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked for Chevron for over 25 years and owned and operated a trawling skiff, the “Captain Floyd.” He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 259, Knights of Columbus Council 9000 and the Holy Name Society. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, earning the Bishops Award in 1992. He loved cooking, carpentry and gardening.

He is survived by his daughter, Emma LeBlanc; son, Floyd (June) Collins Jr.; sister, Iona Lefort; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Burial is at Cheramie Cemetery in Galliano.
