George Paul Fournier Sr., 90, a native and resident of Houma, Louisiana, died at 8:55 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2015.

Mr. Fournier was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church. He retired from Texaco after 34 years. He was a drilling consultant for eight years in Louisiana and Texas. Mr. Fournier served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII with the 4th Marine, 23rd Div. 2nd Battalion Co. E at Iwo Jima, receiving a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1317. He enjoyed fishing, reading and cooking.


He is survived by his sons, George Jr. (Annette) and Timothy (Diana) Fournier; daughter, Brenda (Eddie Jr.) Doiron; brother, Russell Fournier; sisters, Georgia Hebert and Barbara White; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Burial will follow at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
