Grand Caillou native takes fisheries post

George Joseph McElroy Sr., 83, a native of Dularge, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died at 11:20 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2016.
Mr. McElroy was a Master Mason and a member of Jerusalem Temple. He enjoyed fishing and camping.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joyce Breaux McElroy; son, George (Kathy) Jr.; daughters, Darlene M. Neal, Melinda McElroy and Anita (Malcolm) Ryals; brothers, John (Earline), Columbus (Leah) and Hugh (Lura) McElroy; two step-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.
Burial is at Terrebonne Memorial Park. (Chauvin)
