The Haven’s “Home is Where the Heart Is” 2019 Spring Gala— presented by Watkins. CPA—will entertain patrons this Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. at the Houma Terrebonne Civic Center.

“The event has allowed The Haven to continue to operate its services and programs.” said Julie Pellegrin, Executive Director of The Haven. “It raises the necessary funds in order for us to be able to provide shelter counseling and other support services for individuals who are affected through interpersonal violence, including domestic, sexual and daring violence.”

Now in its 21 at year, the annual spring gala started at the East Houma Recreation Center, where it raised just over $330,000 for The Haven. Due to increasing popularity, the event later moved into Town Hall, where the funds increased to approximately $50,000.

Since it moved into the civic center, it has averaged somewhere between $70.000 and $80,000, but it garnered a signiflcant increase from the average when it received roughly $120,000 at last year’s event.

“…As it grows, we’ve been able to increase the revenue,” Pellegrin said. “And all of the proceeds, of course, go right back into the community by helping women and children who live here and need those services. “

With participation from over 35 restaurants and celebrity chefs (see list left), event-goers are sure to find a few—or many—gourmet dishes they can enjoy.

At the silent and live auctions, guests at the gala will also be able to bid on big ticket items such as a George Rodrigue “Blue Dog” painting, charter fishing trip, ride on a private jet an autographed Pelicans’ basketball, hotel packages and much more.

Also at the gala, is The Havens original “Gourmet to Go’auction. At this unique auction, participants will bid on the finest entrees, desserts and appetizers to take home — prepared by the area’s top professional and home chefs.

Billy Stark, Dr. Lawrence Bream & Friends will rock the stage throughout the night while guests enjoy the food, drinks, bidding and socializing.

Tickets — which can be purchased at havenhelps.org— are $85 in advance and $75 at the door.

More information on how to support The Haven all year round, such as a list of supplies needed or how to mate a financial donation, can be found on their website as well.

“The reason why people would want to support the event is because it provides a vital lifesaving service for over 500 families in the area who need to seek refuge from abuse,” Pellegrin said. “And the event itself is a lot of fun.”
