Houma native and LSU-Alexandria post player Gibby Talbot was chosen this week to play on an elite travel team in Croatia — an opportunity which would allow Talbot the chance to compete against some of the best players in the country.

But he needs help.

Funding for the trip is expensive and he’s turning to folks in the Houma-Thibodaux area to help make his dreams come true.

Talbot created a GoFundMe page this weekend, aiming to raise $5,000 to allow the trip to be possible.

At press-time on Monday, he has received $140 toward his goal.

In a typed statement on the page, the former Ellender Memorial star said that payments are due on July 15.

“Sports have always played a major role in my life and this opportunity is going to be a great chance to get recognized on a professional level,” Talbot said. “Any amount you could donate will be greatly appreciated.”

The page can be found at gofundme.com/2a878mzf.
