Huey Joseph (Billy) Hebert Sr., aged 82, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, passed away Tuesday May 22, 2018 at 5:45 p.m.

Mr. Billy is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty J. Stoufflet Hebert; sons, Dale Hebert, and Freddie and wife, Celeste Hebert; daughter, Lana and husband, Dallas Freeman; brother, Cleo Hebert; sister, Marie H. Dupre; grandchildren, Huey J. Hebert III., Kristie H. Speilhagens, Chassie, Nakkia and Donnie Hebert Jr. Larry Freeman Jr., Leslie Young, Dallas Freeman III, Caitlin Key and Freddie Hebert Jr.; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Mr. Billy joined the working world at age 14, washing cars on the corner of Barrow Street and West Park Avenue. At age 22, he ventured into the body and fender works for the next 45 years, prospered well adding a salvage yard in the early 1970’s and worked the yard until one month before his passing. He owned Hebert’s Used Cars, Tunnel Used Cars and was a member of the Wreckers’ Association. He was a self-made man and major advocate for vocational skills, training numerous auto body technicians that are still practicing today. He loved to fish, hunt, and was an accomplished skeet shooter and excellent billiards player. In his hay-day, Billy was the major repair shop performing frame repair in the tri-parish area.

Mr. Billy was loved by family and friends and especially riding the grandchildren on his back and will sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
