Ibert Jerome Mire, 87, a native of New Orleans, La., and resident of Houma, La., died at 3:50 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2016.


Mr. Mire, known as “A. J.,” was an AM & JC Dupont employee for 21 years and a dedicated employee of Main Iron Works from more than 30 years. He was a Korean War veteran known for his strong handshake. He was also a praying man.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ramona Breaux

Mire; children, Ruth (Nathaneal) Lovell, Dianne (Jack) Griffith and Joan Roseberry; three grandchildren; one step-grandchild; three great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; sister, Shirley Fruchtnicht; and sister-in-law, Lynn Crosby Breaux.


He was a member of Harvest Cathedral for many years.

Burial is at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. (Chauvin)
