The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office believes foul play was a factor in the death of a 44-year-old Larose woman who was found inside a parked truck last week in Thibodaux.

On Dec. 23.2018, authorities were called to a parked truck in a sugar cane field located along Lasseigne Road in Thibodaux.


Inside the truck was the body of Rani Pinel, 44, of Larose. She was pronounced dead at the scene, launching an investigation into the incident – an investigation which was still ongoing at press-time on Friday afternoon.

Pinel’a family had reported her mi serine earlier in the day that she was found.

According to family she had contacted her father on Dec. 18, 2018. Daring that conversation, she told him that she had traveled to Texas for a funeral.


LPSO says that foul play is suspected in Pinel’s death based on the circumstances and evidence found on the scene.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff any person(s) who may be responsible or who may have formation into the incident.
