On Sunday, July 15, 2018 at 5 a.m., Janet Becnel Bowman passed away at the age of 72 after a lengthy illness.
She is survived by her husband, John C. (Chris) Bowman; her son, Steven Thomas Bowman (Joy); her very beloved brother, Thomas L. Becnel; and her grandchildren, Harper and Lincoln, whom she loved and adored.
Janet taught chemistry, biology and physics for 39 years at South Lafourche High School. Her life was well-served as teaching was never a job, but always a mission and a true vocation. She loved an excelled at her profession. Her influence and effect on her students and the community was profound.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
