Jerome Michael Babin, 63, a native and resident of Houma, Louisiana, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2014.

Mr. Babin was employed in the oil-and-gas industry most of his life, and worked inside sales for the electrical industry toward the end. An avid sports fan, he followed LSU baseball and football, and loved going to The Box and Tiger Stadium.


Mr. Babin coached Babe Ruth baseball and, as his children aged, Terrebonne softball. He began umpiring for the parish’s recreation and the High School Athletic Association. A highlight of his life was umping the Cooperstown Dream Park Invitational in 2009. Mr. Babin was also a diehard Saints fan and a past member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1317.

He is survived by his wife, Gail Badeaux Babin; daughters Heather (Jeremy) Marcel, Kelli Babin and Jil Lirette; four grandchildren; and brother, Leo Babin.

Burial is at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
