Mr. Joseph “Joey” Smith Jr. age 66, of Gadsden, AL and Houma, LA passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018 after a brave and heroic battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family.

Joey or Bama as he was known as by his Louisiana friends was a native of Gadsden and had returned home for his retirement years. He owned a business, Excell Crane & Hydraulics, Inc. and raised his family in Houma for 39 years. His work ethic was admired and respected. He was an avid golfer and devoted Auburn fan. He also served as a supply sergeant in the Army Reserves.


He is survived by wife, Mary Catherine Smith, daughters Amanda Smith and Katie (Anthony) Lapeyrouse, son Daniel (Jenny) Smith, grandchildren Leah Kay Smith, Lexie Ann Starr, Tristen Labat, Joe Smith, Taylor Smith, sister Regina (Mike) Evans, numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Alacare Home Health and Hospice Fund or Relay for Life Terrebonne Parish – Team Jeepin’ For a Cure.
