Juanita “Laverne” Corbitt Walker, age 73, passed away surrounded by her loving family at 12:08 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018. She was a native of Fort Myers, Florida and a resident of Houma. LA

Laverne is survived by her husband of 51 years, James O’Neill Walker; sons, James D. Walker and wife, Trixie, and Warren J. Walker Sr. and wife, Heidi; brothers, Darrell Corbitt and wife, Linda, and William “Tommy” Corbitt; sisters, Betty Clark, and Pat Seamans and husband, Angus; brother-in-law, Bob Cummings; grandchildren, Stephanie Luke, Michelle Pellegrin, Ezra Walker, Benton Walker, Warren Walker Jr. and Malorie Walker; and great-grandchildren, McKenzie Luke and Riley Friloux.


Laverne was a member of the South Louisiana Billiard League for over 30 years and served as president for the last year. She was the owner of Laverne’s Tavern. She enjoyed shooting pool, bowling, and spending time with family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her..
