Ladies, it’s almost football season.

Want to know a little more about the sport? The Manning family and Nicholls State University is here to help far the second-straight year.

The Manning Passing Academy announced in a press release this past week that it will host the second-annual MPA Ladies Football Clinic on June 26 on the campus of Nicholls State University.

The clinic will be held on the eve of the start of the 2019 Manning Passing Academy — an always-popular local sporting event which brings some of the best aspiring quarterbacks in the country to Thibodaux to study under the tutelage of the Mannings — some of the greatest passers in the history of the game.

The women’s clinic will be held in conjunction with the football staff at Nicholls and coach Tim Rebowe will be the keynote speaker to the event.

“We had a nice turnout at our inaugural event last year.” Clinic Director Shyna Sinervo said. “This year’s clinic will have a little different format from last year. The attendees will walk away with a better understanding of what a football player goes through just to wear the uniform.”

The Ladies Football Clinic is open to women of all ages and also children from grades 8-12.

The clinic will run from 5-9 p.m. on June 26 and it will cost $30/peroan to attend.

The format of the event will be “four quarters” of instruction and attendees will hear from the Nicholls staff. Rebowe and other special guests.

Rebowe is already one of the most successful football coaches in Nicholls history — even having coached just four seasons. Entering his fifth year in 2019, he’s lead the Colonels to back-to-back playoff appearances, two-straight home playoff games and the 2018 Southland Conference Championship.

In all four sessions, there will be time for questions and answers, so attendees will be able to ask questions to Rebowe and other speakers throughout the evening.

A prominent female involved in high-level athletics. New Orleans native Jennifer Hale, will emcee the clinic.

She’s the founder of “Sideline Pass,” an organization dedicated to educating and empowering young women through both classroom seminars and community outreach.

Officials with the Manning Passing Academy said a portion of the proceeds from the clinic will benefit Hale’s organization.

In their news release, the Manning family said the purpose for the clinic is to provide an opportunity for women and girls to learn the game of football from the inside-out with a greater understanding of the fundamentals, techniques and basic skills — all in a fun, safe and non-contact environment.
