3 charged with Looting at Downtown Houma marina

Three suspects are in the custody of the Houma Police Department for allegedly looting a vessel being stored during Hurricane Barry.


On Saturday at 12:06 p.m., the Houma Police Department received a call of a burglary at the Downtown Marina.

As officers arrived, the suspects were attempting to leave the area on foot.

Officers took located them and took them into custody without incident.


The suspects are identified as Dawn Baker, 24, Diamond Harold, 27, and Kenneth Benoit, 37.

As the investigation continued, authorities found Baker was in possession of a beer and a hand-held radio that was taken from the vessel.

Additionally, Baker was found to be in possession of marijuana and Harold was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.


Baker was booked with one count of looting and possession of marijuana.

Benoit was booked with one count of looting.

Harold was booked with one count of looting, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and a warrant for two counts of failure to appear.


Arrested looter stale TV, lawn equipment during Barry

The Houma Police Department has arrested a 30-year-old Houma man for alleged looting during Hurricane Barry.

On Saturday night at approximately 9 p.m., HPD was called to the 100 block of Roselawn Avenue in reference to a burglary in progress.


The homeowner observed the suspect exiting his residence and immediately relayed a description of him to HPD.

Responding officers quickly located the man and took him into custody without incident. He is identified as Quintrell Welch, 30.

Based on the investigation, officers learned that the suspect stole a Vizio TV and some Craftsmen lawn equipment prior to being spotted by the homeowner.


The suspect is charged with one count of looting.

2 arrested for DWI after curfew hours Lm Lafourche


The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office made two curfew-related arrests during Hurricane Barry – both for DWIs where drivers had blood alcohol content levels more than twice the legal limit.

Shortly after 10 p.m. on Friday, deputies responded to a Raceland residence in reference to a domestic disturbance.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that Coby Schexnider, 34, of Raceland, had struck his girlfriend several times and then left the residence.


Deputies began searching the area and located the suspect traveling on La. Highway 1 – a short distance from the residence.

He was found to be speeding and authorities conducted a traffic stop.

Schexnider refused to submit to a field sobriety test, but a breathalyzer test showed him to have a blood alcohol level of .172% – more than two times the legal limit.


He was arrested and booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex. He was charged with DWI, domestic abuse battery and speeding.

He posted a $3,100 bail.

On Saturday night at around 10:20 p.m., a Golden Meadow Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle being driven by Roland Lafont Jr., 49, of Golden Meadow.


The suspect was found to have an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.

He refused to submit to a field sobriety test, but a breathalyzer test showed him to have a blood alcohol level of .182%. Upon reviewing the suspect’s criminal history, authorities learned that he had two prior DWI arrests – one in 2016, the other in 2018.

Lafont is charged with third-offense DWI and bail is set at $15,000.


Lafourche Sheriff Craig Webre said the two incidents were a small blip on the radar during post-curfew hours for Barry.
