Lorraine Chauvin Plaisance, 85, a native of Raceland, La., and resident of Lockport, La., died at 10:10 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2015, with her family by her side.

Mrs. Plaisance was past president of American Legion Auxiliary Post 83 of Lockport, was first person-in-charge of the Lockport Day Care Center when Lafourche ARC started. Her work career also included switchboard operator at St. Anne Hospital, paraprofessional at Holy Savior School and she loved to sew and crochet for her family.


She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Joseph “J.C.” Plaisance; daughters, Louise (Thomas) Guidry and Loretta Plaisance; son, Eric (Pat) Plaisance; brother, Ridley Chauvin; sisters, Nola Lee Breaux, Agnes Cheramie, Theresa Roundtree, Janette Eiland and Eva McKee; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Burial is at Holy Savior Catholic Church Cemetery.
