A Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office correctional officer is no longer employed after he was arrested last week for sexual battery.

On April 30, LPSO started an investigation after a complaint was made stating that correctional officer Ernest Rost, 37, of Raceland, had sexual contact with a juvenile.

Rost was placed on administrative leave at the time of the complaint, pending the outcome of the investigation.

On May 3, detectives obtained a warrant for Rost’s arrest and he was taken into custody.

He is charged on one count of sexual battery and bond is set at $50,000.

LPSO said Rost was employed by the sheriff’s office for just over 15 months.

He was terminated after his arrest and is no longer with LPSO.

Rost was working as a correctional officer at the Lafourche Parish Jail.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.

‘The suspect worked in the Lafourche Parish Jail. Upon learning of his arrest, he was dismissed from his position by Sheriff Craig Webre. Rost worked for LPSO for just more than a year, according to a LPSO news release.’

Ernest Rost, 37, of Raceland was an employee of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office – a Correctional Officer at the parish’s jail. But after his arrest for sexual battery, Rost was relieved of his duties by LPSO.
