In what was described “an overwhelming show of force” federal, state and local law enforcement quelled a major heroin and methamphetamine operation last week, seizing nearly $1 million worth of product following three months of intensive investigation.

“We’re giving them hell,” Maj. Terry Daigre of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office said, in regard to the most recent seizure, in Gray, as well as other recent busts in the parish.


The investigation leading to last week’s seizures and arrests is continuing, and expected to be wrapped up soon, Daigre said, adding “We’re not done.”

Law enforcement officials said that quantities of fentanyl, an often-deadly synthetic opioid that gives heroin a power-boost, are suspected to be in the mix of their haul in Gray, but that they won’t be sure until lab tests come back.

Sheriff Jerry Larpenter said the busts were part of a joint investigation by his department and the Houma City Police Narcotics Division; Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigation Division, and U.S. Customs/Border Patrol along with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.


Through the course of the investigation officers recovered approx. 1.2 pounds of crystal meth and 12 grams of Heroin.

Arrest warrants were executed on Ryan Antoine, 25, 316 Marietta Place for four counts of distribution of crystal meth.

Also warranted was Troy Nixon, 502 Mobile Estates Drive, on one count of heroin distribution and 2 counts distribution of Crystal Meth.


Officers were granted search warrants for three residences as a result of this investigation, 316 Marietta Place, 317 Rhett Place, and 502 Mobile Estates Drive.

During the early morning hours on May 10, all agencies participated in the takedowns of Antoine and Nixon.

More meth and heroin were discovered, along with a pound of cocaine and 1.3 ounces of marijuana. Liquid codeine, assorted prescription pills, a loaded Smith and Wesson pistol along with $17,412 in U.S. currency were also found.


Both Ryan Antoine and Troy Nixon were taken into custody in reference to outstanding arrest warrants. Through the course of the search warrants Narcotic Agents recovered approximately 7 1/2 pounds of Crystal Meth, over 1/2 pound of Heroin, approximately 1 pound of Cocaine approximately 1.3 ounces of Marijuana, some liquid codeine, assorted prescription pills, a loaded Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol, multiple items of drug paraphernalia, $17,412.00 in U.S. Currency, and 4 vehicles, a Dodge Challenger, a Dodge Charger, a Pontiac Grand-Am, and a Pontiac Grand-Prix.

Antoine was additionally charged — along with 24-year-old Theon Cole — with possession with Intent to distribute crystal meth, possession with Intent to distribute cocaine, possession with Intent to Distribute heroin, Possession With Intent to Distribute Hydrocodone, Illegal Carrying of A Weapon With C.D.S., Illegal Use of C.D.S. In the presence of Juveniles, transactions Involving Drug Proceeds, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The narcotics recovered were in bulk packaging. These drugs would be cut and broke down for distribution. By the time they are sold to users, they are sold by the gram. The street value of the drugs recovered throughout this investigation is approximately $908,425.


Nixon’s bond was set at $800,000, Antoine’s bond was set at $1,050,000 and Coler’s at $1,000,000.

Daigre later said that the case helped him to feel a sense of satisfaction.

“A case like this is rewarding in that you feel you have taken such a quantity off the streets,” Daigre said. “Who knows how many lives were saved.”


Terrebonne parish sheriff’s office authorities made three arrests and seized the following cash, dope and guns during a high-profile arrest last week.
