Moise Johnson, 94, a native of Eunice, La., and resident of Thibodaux, La., died on Friday, June 24, 2016.


Mr. Johnson was a past commander of VFW Thibodaux Post 5097, a National Aide de’ Camp and a member of 40 & 8 of the American Legion. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Caribou IX-114 in World War II in the Pacific Campaign. Mr. Johnson was also a retired deputy with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office.

He is survived by daughter, Vernita (Bert) Knight; son, Moise (Kathy) Johnson; daughter, Virginia Fields; brother, Loicy (Jeanette) Johnson; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Burial is at St. Joseph Cemetery.
