Nicholls State University has hired its new Vice President of Finance and Administration, ending a more than three month search to fill the vacant position.

University President Dr. Bruce Murphy announced on Friday afternoon that he’d hired Terry Braud Jr. to fill the position, which was vacated when Ronnie Rodriguez resigned in February after two years in the position.

Braud’s hiring is pending routine approval from the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors. He will begin in the position on Aug. 29 — just seven days after Nicholls is scheduled to begin the school year.

In a university-issued news release, Murphy said he’s happy and excited to welcome Braud into the family. He expressed excitement in his ability to allow Nicholls to continue to grow.

“We are excited to welcome Terry Braud to Nicholls and look forward to his leadership in the university’s business area,” Murphy said. “Terry brings to Nicholls considerable talent and experience as both an accountant and an administrator. His proven track record of building a strong, stable infrastructure will be a valuable asset as we work toward strategically positioning Nicholls for future growth.”

Braud has been an accountant for more than 32 years. A Houma native, Braud was most recently the vice president of administration and senior vice president and CFO at Cross Holdings-a Houma-based full-service marine company.
