Peter Gabriel Bourgeois Jr., 91, a native and resident of Houma, La., died at 11:20 a.m. on Monday, May 9, 2016.
A WWII veteran, Mr. Bourgeois was awarded the Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars. He retired from Magnolia Liquor Co. of New Orleans after 52 years of service. He served three terms on the parish City Council and one on the Police Jury. He was commander of American Legion Post 31, and the 2016 recipient of the Eugene J. Folse Outstanding Veteran Award.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Wilson Bourgeois; sons, Peter III (Peggy), Clyde and Clark (Jennifer) Bourgeois; sister, Beverly Sinor; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Burial is at St. Francis de Sales No. 1.
