Makayla Bynum

FRESHMAN • POINT GUARD, SHOOTING GUARD

Name:

Makayla Bynum

Height:

5’1”

Grade:

Freshman

School:

South Lafourche High School

Sports played:

Makayla is a contributing member of both the Lady Tarpons volleyball and basketball teams. Though just a freshman, Makayla sees key playing time in both sports. She helped South Lafourche make the playoffs in 2016 in volleyball and is one of the key reserve guards on the Lady Tarpons 2016-17 basketball team that is chasing a state title.

Strengths:

On the basketball court, Bynum is a lethal 3-point shooter. She makes up for her small figure with a quick release and pin-point accuracy. Bynum is capable of making shots from several feet behind the 3-point line, if needed. She’s also poised. This past weekend against Helen Cox, Bynum’s late free throws helped seal the victory for South Lafourche. On the volleyball court, Bynum has nice touch on the ball and is one of the team’s best liberos.

Plans for the rest of the season?

“Try and win the district championship and go as far as we can in the playoffs. I also want to keep working hard on my sports to try and become a better, more well-rounded player.”

Parents

Scott and Connie Bynum

Credentials:

South Lafourche freshman guard Makayla Bynum is one of the people we’re going to be writing a lot about in the coming years. Just a freshman at South Lafourche High School, Makayla is already helping the Lady Tarpons out on two varsity teams – a rare feat. Off the floor, Makayla said she loves to hang out with her friends, family and teammates.
