Marquis is a contributor for two sports at South Lafourche High School. He is a starting wide receiver for the Tarpons football team who also plays defensive back. On the basketball hardwood, Francis is a contributing point guard who possesses the ability to stretch defenses from long range.
Signature moment:
Marquis has a multi-touchdown game against Morgan City earlier in the district season. Before the game, he said he was going to have a ‘big night’ on social media.
Strengths?
Marquis is pretty smooth athletically. As a receiver, he has length, despite his 5-foot, 11-inch frame. In the open field, he’s able to out-run defenders, which allows him to make plays down the field for big yardage in the Tarpons passing game.
What does his coach say?
“He’s a young receiver, and he’s still very raw, but he’s coming around. I think that he’s a guy that we’re going to look to rely on more and more as we get toward the end of this season and even into next season, as well.”
Credentials:
South Lafourche multi-sport athlete Marquis Francis is one heck of a player. On the football field, he’s one of the Tarpons leading receivers – a guy who already has multiple touchdowns in the district season. When football ends, he figures to be a contributing member to the school’s basketball team, as well.
