Favorite thing about basketball:

It is fun learning a new sport and getting the chance to meet new friends.

Best advice ever given by a coach:

That advice would be to, ‘Play hard and if you’re going to make a mistake, make it going full speed.’ That was given to me by Coach Greg Curole.

Favorite food:

I’m not picky. I like a little bit of everything, to be honest.

Best basketball achievement:

Making the South Lafourche Biddy Basketball All-Stars U10 White Team in this 2014-15 basketball season. This happened to me less than six months after the first time I ever touched a basketball. I started the sport, and used the coaching that Coach Greg gave me, and I worked hard to reach my goal.

Favorite team to play against:

The Larose U10 All-Stars girls’ team.

Favorite movie:

Big Hero Six.

Things to do in spare-time:

I am a true Cajun Girl. I love to fish, crab, trawl, hunt and do anything to be outdoors. I really enjoy playing with my two dogs – Moka and Mylo. I also enjoy spending time with my parents, Bambi and Wade Compeaux, and also my older brother Jeremy.

Credentials:

Nyla Cera Compeaux is a pretty quick learner. She picked up a basketball for the first time this past fall when her parents signed her up to play Biddy. Just six months later, she thrived, enjoying a solid regular season. Her success was enough to make her a member of the South Lafourche Biddy White Team All-Stars squad. Away from the floor, Nyla loves to volunteer her time at the Catholic Community Center. Throughout the year, she and her brother have bake sales with half the money going to St. Jude and the other half going to buy toys to donate to Toys for Tots.
