Walk into the halls of South Lafourche High School and you’ll immediately notice that something is different about the school.

It’s the walls.

Yea, the walls.

They’re different – colorful and unique. They’re literally a history book of the school and the talent that has run through it.

Each year, the art class at the high school is gifted a wall – a tradition that’s been going on now for 12 years.

With the wall, the art students have a job – to build a mural of expression.

Each student hag his/her own piece of the wall and their job is to craft a piece of art within said space, which will sit in the school to be seen throughout the future.

Some are colorful. Some are bright. Some display current figures. Others are historical by nature.

But they’re all awesome.

We toured SLHS’s 2018 mural this past week and it’s epic! See a full gallery online by visiting houmatimes.com.

Few figures have been more impactful in history than Albert Einstein. Check out this colorful portrait of him.

One student painted Mr. Elliot Gaidry. who a faculty member at the school. Here, he sits posed next to his photo. You can see the detail in the work. They even got the shades of gray in his beard right.
