Sybil Rhodes Guidry, 77, a native and resident of Houma, La., died on Friday, December 16, 2016.


Mrs. Guidry was a passionate environmental activist and founding member of the Terrebonne Parish Tree Board. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church and served as a CCD educator for many years.

She is survived by her daughters, Denise (Paul) Forbes and Nichole (Dwayne) Crochet; siblings, Andrew, Peter (Pam), Bennie (Jeanne) and Christopher (Tammy) Rhodes, Eileen Chauvin, Mary (Kevin) Talbot, Marianne (Brian) Matherne, Theresa (John) Hebert and Virginia (Phil) Achee; and three grandchildren.

Burial is at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2 in Houma.
