The Terrebonne Parish District Attorney’s Office is offering drivers with outstanding traffic tickets amnesty in April, allowing them to pay without late fees and penalties.

The Amnesty April Program is offered to drivers who have failed to appear in court or pay their fines. Drivers charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, parking tickets, and any citations imposing a mandatory court appearance do not qualify.

“Obviously they’ve got to see a judge,” said Kevin Guidry, administrator for District Attorney Joe Waitz Jr.

Once the amnesty period ends, Terrebonne authorities will intensify enforcement of unpaid traffic tickets, officials said.

Payments can be made over the phone at 985-873-6500, or in person at the Terrebonne Parish Courthouse Annex Traffic Department located at 7856 Main St. in Houma. Payments by money order can also be mailed to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Court Fund, P.O. Box 3600, Houma, La, 70361. Money Orders must be made out to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Court Fund (T.P.C.C.F.).

“The program is great for people who may have forgotten or have fallen on hard times,” Guidry said. “It’s an opportunity to get things taken care of and save them a little money at the same time.” &
