Weather was a scare, but it cooperated, steering dear of Houma on Saturday afternoon.

Prom there, locals did the rest providing the friendly competition, food and fun at the TFAE 5K Run for Excellence and Food Feet.


The l9th annual installment of the race went off this past weekend without a hitch, despite concerns throughout the week of inclement weather passably affecting the event.

Organizers say the 2019 installment of the event WAS a success and those who attended agreed, calling it a family-friendly event that could be enjoyed by people of all ages.

WE had a blast” Houma native Rosa Williams said. “Where else can you have this much fun in Houma? It was one of those wonderful days where you’re reminded of the wonderful reasons why we live in Southeastern Louisiana.


The event is centered around the 5K. of course, which provided a competitive, yet still friendly atmosphere in the first part of the day. Alex Hebert won the men’s 5K. whole Christina Fanguy took home the title in the women’s race Conditions for the run were tough with warm weather and loads of humidity before the front passed through the area on Sunday morning.

But this event has evolved into a true community festival.

After the run was the food festival, which featured several vendors and same of the beet Cajun cuisine offered anywhere around.


On at age, musical acts performed and locals danced the night away – literally – while raising money for TFAE, which supports public education in the community,
