Not that there was ever any real doubt given the way the past three and a half seasons have gone.

But it’s now clear: Cassidy Barrios is the single greatest women’s basketball player in the history of the Nichools State University’s women’s basketball program.

Barrios set the school’s all-time scoring record tins past weekend In a win over South-eastern, eclipsing the 30-year-old mark she’d been chasing throughout the season.

The record is one of many for the former Vandebilt Catholic star and four-year Nicholls starter.

She already owns the school record for blocks and will challenge several other records in the coining weeks.

She’d the defending Southland Conference Player of the Year and is a strong favorite to win the honor again this season – already owning South land Conference Player of the Week award a several times on the year.

She’s also been a huge player in a program turnaround for Nicholls – a program that made the NCAA Tournament for the first time ever last season and which aspires to do so again, this spring.

For more on Barrios’ accomplishment visit the Nicholls page in sports, which is sponsored weekly by Thibodaux Regional Medical Center. It is on Page 64.
