1. E.D. WHITE: The Cardinals had a lot of experience back in 2015. That experience paid off on Friday night in a road victory against rival Vandebilt. E.D. White is a sneaky-good team, and that will be a huge factor in how things turn out in the Houma-Thibodaux area.

2. CENTRAL LAFOURCHE: The Trojans haven’t ever been this high in our poll, but they’ve earned it. After topping Brusly in the jamboree, Central Lafourche powered past Patterson in what has to be considered a mild upset. Kudos to Coach Menard and his staff on a job well done.

3. SOUTH LAFOURCHE: For the first quarter of Friday’s game against Bonnabel, the Tarpons weren’t on this list. But for the final three, things were pretty crisp for South Lafourche, who has a physical offense that will be tough for teams in our local 4A district to deal with.

4. H.L. BOURGEOIS: The Carey Melvin era got off to a good start on Friday, as the Braves led from start-to-finish in an easy win over South Terrebonne. The first-year coach has given H.L. Bourgeois some swagger, and it’s already paying off.

5. TERREBONNE: Terrebonne will round out our high-five after trumping Ellender for a second-straight week. The Tigers are young, but talented. Friday’s meeting with South Terrebonne should be interesting.
