The 2017 prep football season is still many, many moons away.

But let’s face it – this is Louisiana. And here, it’s football season for 12 months out of the year. This past week, we contacted all of our area’s coaches and compiled football schedules for all 11 of the high schools in Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes.

The finished product is impressive – a slate of games enough to make the average sports fan salivate at the thought of what’s to come once we get past summer and roll into the autumn months.

For example, the opening week of the season will see Vandebilt Catholic match up with Thibodaux – a game which will pit Terriers’ All-Everything quarterback Andrew Robison against the Tigers’ always-stingy defense.

Also on the week one schedule are cross-town matchups between South Terrebonne and H.L. Bourgeois and a classic rivalry matchup between Terrebonne and Ellender.

Likewise, Week 10 will also be loaded with rivalry matchups and games that are sure to have clear playoff implications.

In Lafourche Parish, Thibodaux will battle Central Lafourche – a game that’s always one of the most anticipated of the season.

In Terrebonne, the schedule is just as good, featuring battles between Ellender and South Terrebonne (teams which share a stadium) and also E.D. White and Vandebilt.
