Tommy Gordon Thompson, Sr., 76, a native of Houma, Louisiana and a resident of Spring, Texas died on January 2, 2018.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lua Thibodeaux Thompson; sons, Tommy Thompson, Jr. of Cedar Park, Texas, Timmy Thompson and wife Gypsy of Spring, Texas; daughter, Tami Thompson of Houma, Louisiana; and nine grandchildren, Trevor, Trent, Tyra and Trey Thompson, Brandon and Evan Outhouse and Sadie, Haley and Brennan Thompson and sister, Vicki Allen.

He was a star quarterback at Terrebonne High School. After his senior season he signed a football scholarship with the current National Champions LSU Tigers. A medical issue prior to his sophomore year had him miss a season then transfer to McNeese State where he was a two-year starter. After college Tommy came back to Houma where he coached at Oaklawn Jr. High, Terrebonne High and Vandebilt Catholic, where he was Head Coach. Eventually Tommy became one of two Vice Principals that opened the new high school at the time, H.L. Bourgeois. Tommy spent his entire career as an educator. He was a coach, teacher, assistant principal, principal, supervisor and school board member and president in a career that had a span of thirty-years.

Tommy cherished his family and loved spending time with his beloved Lua, his children and his grandchildren. In his younger years, Tommy was an avid duck hunter and fisherman and was a life-long “chef” specializing in Cajun and Creole dishes.
