The National Association of Social Workers Houma/Thibodaux Region honored its award winners recently at a luncheon at Ellendale Country Club. Pictured from left are Jackie Plaisance, Mary Lynn Steward, Morgan Allison and Kim Thompson. Plaisance received the local and state School Social Worker of the Year awards, presented by Cathy Stack. Stewart won the local Public Citizen of the Year award, presented by Karen Schilling. Allison accepted the local and state Lifetime Achievement awards on behalf of Carl Mangum, who couldn’t attend the event. Rob Gorman presented the award. Thompson won the local Social Worker of the Year award, presented by Priscilla Broussard. The Houma/Thibodaux Region of the National Association of Social Workers is one of 55 chapters in the country. They work to create and maintain professional standards and to advance sound social policies.
