Lockport teenager charged with second-degree murder: attempted murder
A teenager from Lockport is charged with second-degree murder after a weekend shooting.
At around 10:25 p.m., on Sunday night, deputies responded to a call of a shooting in the 100 block of East Fontinelle Street in the Rita community in Lockport.
Deputies arrived on the scene and found that Alton Adams, 19, of Bayou Blue, was struck by a single round.
Authorities rendered aid until EMT’s arrived, but Adams was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said he was inside his mother’s residence with six other individuals when they heard shots. At least eight rounds were fired with at least four striking the residence. One of those rounds hit Adams and resulted in his death.
Sunday night and into early Monday morning, LPSO worked the scene to develop a suspect, interviewing witnesses and neighbors.
Through that work, Jyairus Folse, 17, of Lockport, was identified as a suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Authorities made contact with Folse on Monday and he was taken into custody.
He was taken to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. He is charged with one count of second-degree murder and six counts of attempted second-degree murder.
Bond is set at $5 million.
The motive for the shooting remains unknown, and the investigation is continuing, according to LPSO.
Suspect in Raceland vehicle theft and burglaries arrested
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Web re announced New Orleans man wanted in connection to a stolen vehicle and string of vehicle burglaries has been arrested. Andre Brown, 3d was arrested on Friday.
On January 4. 2019. deputies responded to a report of a stolen vehicle and vehicle burglaries on Landmark Drive in Raceland. A pickup track had been stolen, and several vehicles had been burglarized. During the course of the investigation, detectives received images and videos of the suspects One of the suspects was identified as Andre Brown, and they obtained warrants for his arrest.
At around 1 a.m. on Friday, February 15. deputies made contact with Brown on a traffic stop, and he was taken into custody. He was booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux for Theft of a Motor Vehicle,, seven counts of Simple Burglary of a Motor Vehicle, arid seven counts of Contempt of Court His bond is set at $160 £00. He has also been ordered to pay $1,909 in fines and costs stemming from the contempt warrants.
The investigation continues as detectives have determined Brown had at least two accomplices in the crimes.
