Suspect arrested for home invasion, battery


A 26-year-old Houma native is in the custody of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office after he allegedly pulled his girlfriend’s hair during a verbal argument, then broke into her home.

On Monday morning, deputies were called to the 100 block of Mozart Drive in reference to a domestic disturbance.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with a 24-year-old victim who said that she was sitting in a vehicle with Deonta Ward, 26, of Houma, when they got into a verbal altercation.


During the argument, Ward allegedly grabbed the victim’s hair and pulled it from her scalp. After a struggle, the victim got away and ran into her residence and locked the door.

Ward allegedly chased the victim down and kicked in the door to gain entry to the home and the altercation continued.

The victim attempted to spray Ward with pepper spray, but Ward allegedly knocked it from her hand and it broke.


The suspect then left the scene before deputies arrived.

Around 10:00 a.m., Ward was located and arrested.

He is charged with battery of a dating partner and home invasion. He is held on a $50,000 bond.


3 arrested in connection with Lafourche narcotics investigation

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced three people have been arrested in connection to a narcotics investigation. Troy Vicknair Sr., 53, and Jeainy Ranch, 64, both of Gray ware arrested Tuesday along with Jacob Yzaguirre, 25, of Houma.

Through investigation, narcotics agents had obtained arrest warrants for Vicknair and Ranch for Distribution of Methamphetamine, as well as a search warrant for Vicknair’s residence. On Tuesday, March 28, agents made contact with Vicknair on a traffic stop and took him into custody. Agents proceeded to Vicknair’s residence where they made contact with Ranch and Yzaguirre. During a search of the residence, agents discovered approximately 36 grams of suspected methamphetamine, four grains of suspected marijuana, 17 prescription pills, and drug paraphernalia, with varying amounts belonging to each, individual All three were placed under arrest and transported to the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibidaux.


Vicknair and Ranch were each booked on the aforementioned warrants for Distribution of Methamphetamine, and they were each charged with Possession of Legend Drugs without a Prescription and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Ranch was additionally charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, and her bail is set at $27,500. Vicknair was additionally charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine. Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. His bail is set at $40,900.

Yzaguirre was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine arid Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. His bail is set at $20,500, but he is also being held for Terrebonne Parish due to warrants for Monetary Instrument Abuse and Contempt of Court.

Checkpoint set for Lafourche


Sheriff Craig Web re announced the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office will conduct a checkpoint this week in Lafourche Parish.

A seat belt checkpoint will be conducted during the evening hours of April 5, 2019, followed, by a DWI checkpoint which will continue into the early morning hours of the following day.

LPSO also had a seat belt check point yesterday, on April 2, 2019.
